Abstract
The BUBL Information Service is arguably one of the most useful UK-based resources on the Internet for librarians and academics alike. Originating as part of a short-term networking project, the Service has overcome numerous obstacles in its development to a standard whereby it has been recognised, and funded, as a national information service by the Joint Information Systems Committee of the Higher Education Funding Councils of England, Scotland, Wales and the Department of Education for Northern Ireland. This article shall look at various aspects in the development of BUBL, highlight particular areas of the Service, and end by focusing on the direction the Service is moving in now.
