Abstract
The method of analysis of zero-crossing data and the decision-making procedures used are described. The results of analysis and recognition of the vowels Λ, e, ou, i: and u: are presented in some detail in computer-plotted graphs and tables. Full tests were conducted with six women and four men, and certain selected tests were conducted with 20 women and 20 men. The emphasis of the experiments was on establishing the practicability of the methods under investigation.
