Immunoidentification of Transcortin-like Material within the Adenohypophysis

Abstract
Several lines of evidence previously established the presence of at least 2 glucocorticoid binders in the cytosol of the adenohypophysis. One of these binders exhibited physicochemical properties closely similar to those of plasma transcortin or CBG [corticosteroid binding globulin], with respect to steroid specificity, dissociation constant and sedimentation coefficient in sucrose gradient. The transcortin-like compound (TL cpd) was further characterized by carrying out immunological studies using antibodies raised against rat CBG. The data suggest that the pituitary TL cpd presents immunological identity with plasma CBG.
