Abstract
In Britain, the demand for electricity has been observed to rise sharply at the end of popular television programmes. This presents a serious forecasting problem for the Central Electricity Generating Board in the economic scheduling of standby reserve generation. This report provides some insights into the determinants of the problem and a multivariate forecasting aid through regression analyses on television audience measurements. Keywords
