Forecasting the Effects of Television Programming upon Electricity Loads

Abstract
In Britain, the demand for electricity has been observed to rise sharply at the end of popular television programmes. This presents a serious forecasting problem for the Central Electricity Generating Board in the economic scheduling of standby reserve generation. This report provides some insights into the determinants of the problem and a multivariate forecasting aid through regression analyses on television audience measurements.
