Toxicity of Alloys of Ferrochromium

Abstract
The transport of trivalent chromium by rat serum proteins was studied by immunoelectrophoretic analysis and autoradiography. It is shown that as the dose of trivaïent 51Cr [51Cr (III)] is increased it binds progressively to siderophilin, albumin, two α-proteins and γ-globulin. The quantity of 51Cr(lll) bound to siderophilin after an injection is found to be quite stable over a six-hour period. Several factors important in interpretation are discussed. It is suggested that this method may have practical application in the study of the serum transport of other metals, and many other substances that become bound to the plasma proteins.
