Abstract
The Nutrition Education and Prevention Program at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) School of Medicine has made advances in nutrition education for medical students despite national trends. At present, students are expected to achieve an understanding of nutrition during the first, second, and third years of medical school. According to the 1995 Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Medical School Graduation Questionnaire, 29.5% of Penn medical students felt that nutrition was inadequate, compared to 80% in 1991, while 50% felt that prevention coverage was inadequate compared to 84.8% in 1991.
