Abstract
The author describes the architecture, characteristics, and performance of Canstar switching fabric products based on the Fibre Channel Standard. It is noted that the deployment of Fibre Channel Fabric to achieve homogeneous interconnection of processors and peripheral devices provides the following advantages: the same physical interconnect scheme for both processors and peripheral devices; seamless access from workstation to peripherals to supercomputers, topology, media, and upper-level protocol independence; and high-speed internodal communication. Keywords
