Abstract
We consider electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions, including backward scattering by phonons, in one-dimensional conductors with incommensurate band filling. Particular emphasis is laid on the effects of finite phonon frequency. We calculate the effective-mass enhancement due to the electron-phonon coupling and effective interaction constants. We find a significant enhancement of charge-density-wave fluctuations and of the electronic specific heat and, to a lesser extent, of the spin susceptibility. Both a weak-coupling-high-frequency and a strong-coupling-low-frequency approach are used, giving good agreement in intermediate cases. Keywords
