Abstract
The superior mesenteric artery serves as an important landmark in transverse CT section of the abdomen. The body of the pancreas and the splenic vein arch in front of the artery and may thus be distinguished from the duodenum which traverses the mid-line behind it. The third part of duodenum (Fig. 1a), the uncinate process of the pancreas (Fig. 1a) and the left renal vein (Fig. 1b) have been listed as the three main structures between the superior mesenteric artery and the aorta (Kolbenst-vedt et al., 1979).Keywords
