Abstract
How open is the world of computing to women? From computer games to computer science courses, the field attracts men and deters women. Yet women have been drawn into community computing, and some firms are now recruiting and training women for advnced computing activity. Elisabeth Gerver, Director of the Scottish Institute for Adult and Continuing Education, surveys the territory and recommends fundamental alterations and improvements.Keywords
