Abstract
Cellulolytic activity was studied in the snail H. aspersa, one of the most interesting species for breeding purposes. Snails were kept in standard climatic conditions and fed with diets including different amounts of cellulose. The feed intake, digestibilities of dry matter, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and protein as well as the N balance, were determined. The snail H. aspersa is capable of digesting up to 0.90 mg NDF/g live weight per animal per day. Keywords
