Abstract

On the basis of a statistical theory of losses recently developed by the author, the excess dynamic loss of polycrystalline soft materials is expressed directly in terms of the hysteresis loss and the average grain size, with no adjustable parameters. The obtained loss equation correctly predicts both the absolute value and the dependence on grain size of excess losses measured in nonoriented 3% SiFe laminations
