Abstract
Simple analytic two variational parameters wavefunctions for the ground state of , He, , , atom (ions) are proposed. These functions fulfil the cusp conditions at the singularities of the Coulombic field, and include the correct behaviour for large interparticle separations. The accuracy of the calculated energies is found to be about . These functions should be useful for the computation of the cross section of inelastic processes involving two-electron systems. Keywords
