RADIOGRAPHIC VISUALIZATION of the coronary arteries in vivo has been accomplished by a variety of methods, both in the experimental animal and in the human subject.1-12 Current clinical techniques usually depend on flooding of the aortic sinuses with a contrast agent injected through a catheter in the ascending aorta.2-7 With such techniques, superimposition of the opacified aortic root and the descending thoracic aorta on the coronary vessels is inevitable, resulting at times in obscuration of the margins and the proximal portions of the coronary arteries. These critical areas must be defined if the precise status of the coronary bed is to be demonstrated.
