Abstract
To study the effects of benzedrine sulfate on higher mental processes, the authors divided 91 subjects into benzedrine, placebo and control groups. Each group was given one form of a reasoning and of a disarranged word (anagram) test. Two days later each subject in the first 2 groups was given a 10 mg. tablet of the drug or placebo, and 1 hr. after ingestion a second parallel form of each test was administered. None of the changes in score in any group was statistically significant. The authors suggest that more attention be paid to individual differences in future studies of the effects of drugs on behavior.
