Abstract
We have not been able to reproduce the recently reported resonance enhancement of Raman scattering from magnons in Mn by Amer, Chiang, and Shen. Fifteen crystals ranging from extremely pure samples to ones with high concentrations of impurities, in addition to one supplied by Amer, Chiang, and Shen, were investigated. By observing the off-resonance scattering, we conclude that if an enhancement of greater than a factor of 2 were present, it would have been seen in our resonance spectra.
