Abstract
Analytic methods for determining the presence of blood NO2, NO3 and NO3 esters are discussed. Pepresentative blood NO2 levels after oral administration of varying doses of pentaerythritol tetranitrate (Peritrate) are given. Findings indicate that peak blood NO2 levels do not coincide with peak levels of physiologic activity. It is concluded that further work is warranted to determine the presence of other metabolites of orally administered organic NO3 in the blood, and to correlate their presence with physiologic activity. Keywords
