Abstract
A survey of prevailing aluminium concentrations in drinking water in 12 West European countries has been undertaken in order to assess the degree of human exposure to aluminium arising from, drinking water consumption, and to compare it with intake from other sources. Data for water treated with aluminium‐based coagulants showed that, in general, concentrations are less than the EEC MAC of 0.2 mgl‐1 • Comparison with published data for the daily ingestion of aluminium in food and beverages showed that drinking water forms only a minor proportion (<5%) of most adult daily intake. Keywords
