Abstract
Isolated hepatocytes are being increasingly used in drug metabolism studies since they possess many of the attributes of both in vitro and in vivo systems. This paper reviews recent work on this use of isolated hepatocytes, with particular emphasis on their value in the study of (a) species and organ differences in xenobiotic metabolism, (b) the relation of metabolism to toxicity and (c) the balance of Phase I/Phase II metabolism. Keywords
