Platypnea (Diffuse Zone I Phenomenon?)

Abstract
ORTHOPNEA, increased dyspnea in the recumbent position relieved by sitting, is a common and important symptom of congestive heart failure. This report describes a patient with severe obstructive emphysema in whom striking and severe dyspnea developed in the upright position. This dyspnea was relieved when he assumed a supine or prone position. By analogy, this symptom has been called "platypnea" — dyspnea produced by assumption of an erect position and relieved by a recumbent one.Case ReportE.R.
