Abstract
Five sequences of pumiceous dacitic debris interbedded with fossiliferous marine mudstones are recognized inthe Tokiwa formation (Miocene). They represent the quenched and laterally transported products of submarine explosions. The mechanisms and environment of deposition are discussed.Keywords
