Abstract
This paper is based on qualitative research on a number of newly formed school governing bodies in two Southern LEAs. The paper looks at the extent to which sexism and racism arise during, and are reproduced by, school governing body meetings and explores sex and race dynamics in the power relations of governing schools. Keywords
