Abstract
The neutron capture cross section and fission cross section for 233U have been measured simultaneously in the neutron energy range 0.4 to 2000 eV. A pulsed and collimated neutron beam was passed through a 233U fission chamber placed at the center of a large liquid scintillator. Capture and fission events in the 233U chamber were detected in the scintillator by means of their prompt gamma rays. Coincident signals from the fission chamber and liquid scintillator distinguished fission from capture events. Comparisons with previously published data, using similar and different methods, are given. Keywords
