Wavelength-dependent transmission at fibre connectors

Abstract

It is shown that the transmission loss of a fibre connector with a preceding fibre is extremely wavelength-dependent. A change of laser wavelength by only 0.01 Å may suffice to change the transmission by 10% when using typical multi-mode fibres.
