Abstract
The trajectories of an intense relativistic electron beam propagating between a toroidal plasma column and a conducting vacuum wall are calculated theoretically and verified experimentally. Three classes of trajectories are observed, including a set of banana-type orbits. The significance of these trajectories on the ability of the beam to transfer energy to the plasma is discussed. This publication has 15 references indexed in Scilit:
