Localization of Glycogen in Lenses of Different Species, Demonstrated by Histochemical Methods

Abstract
The well-known fact that several animal species show considerable differences in the glycogen content of the lens can be demonstrated histochemically. The localization of glycogen is most striking in pigeon lens fibres. In all investigated animal species, glycogen concentration appeared to be higher in the lens nucleus than in lens cortex.
