Abstract
Most people regard pressure sores as an obvious sign of neglect, either by the patient involved, or his nurses. This perception can lead to litigation against nursing and medical staff (1) and there is no doubt that professional neglect can, at times, be the main cause of a pressure sore. Such neglect may, of course, be blamed on a lack of resources - principally in the shape of skilled nurses and of special equipment.
