Abstract
Reliability of international tourism statistics are discussed in this article. Differences in method of measurement and problems caused by these different methodol ogies in trying to compile a world total are described. The census method, head count from disembarkation cards, is discussed as is the value of spot checks and sample surveys conducted on a more or less continuous basis. The importance of counting domestic tourism in addition to international arrivals is pointed out.Keywords
