Abstract
A simple method which can directly measure the zero dispersion wavelength of a entire optical amplifier transmission system is reported. It is based on dispersion induced phase to amplitude modulation conversion in an optical fibre. The experimental and theoretical results agree for a 2000 km transmission system, and the standard deviation of measured zero dispersion wavelengths is only 0.053 nm.Keywords
