Abstract
Synopsis: Adequate control of established johnsongrass in soybeans was obtained by use of summer‐fallow cultivation or intensive preplanting tillage. Soybeans planted following 6 to 10 diskings yielded more than soybeans grown in the conventional manner and as much as soybeans grown in plots where johnsongrass was controlled with herbicides. Disking appeared to provide more control than chemicals applied as recommended. The effectiveness of frequent disking in johnsongrass control appeared to be directly related to rhizome dehydration. Keywords
