Bilateral Adrenal Pheochromocytoma and Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma

Abstract
ALTHOUGH the first case of pheochromocytoma associated with thyroid carcinoma was reported in 19321 it was not until 1952 that this combination of neoplasms was mentioned as occurring with unusual frequency.2 In 1961 Sipple3 presented a case of his own and reviewed 51 , 4 5 6 7 cases from the literature. He suggested that the observed incidence of thyroid carcinoma in patients with pheochromocytoma was much greater than might be expected.
