Abstract
THE editors, in 1953, conducted a poll of 18,000 of the Journal's subscribers, representing about two thirds of the total, asking their opinion of its content. Approximately 46 per cent — an exceptionally high proportion — replied. The Medical Progress series led in popularity, followed closely by original articles and the Case Records of the Massachusetts General Hospital. The major types of practice engaged in by those replying were, in numerical order, internal medicine, surgery, including the surgical specialties, and general practice.Again, in 1959, a similar although not identical questionnaire was mailed to approximately 25,500 subscribers, 34 per cent . . .Keywords
