Abstract
ALTHOUGH the subject of corrosive gastritis has been well presented previously, only 1 other case resulting from formaldehyde ingestion has been reported in the American literature.1 Therefore, it seems appropriate to add this case report to the literature.Case ReportA 41-year-old man was admitted to Charity Hospital, New Orleans, on July 29, 1961, as an emergency, after the ingestion of formaldehyde in a suicidal attempt after a period of depression.
