Intellectual Assessment of the Native American Student

Abstract
Due to a variety of legal and socioeconomic factors, psychologists may find themselves working increasingly with Native American children. While many of the generalizations concerning the assessment of other minority students may apply to the Native American child, research and clinical findings indicate that psychologists need to be particularly aware of the variations between the cultural experience of the Native American and the Anglo child. Based on research and observations regarding the unique cultural experience of the Native American student, specific recommendations are presented.
