UNIVERSALITY IN DISORDERED MESOSCOPIC SYSTEMS

Abstract
We consider an ensemble of disordered electronic samples at the mobility edge (at zero temperature) and study the conductance distribution PL(g), for samples of size L. We derive an equation for the cumulant generating function and find its solution, for any initial distribution P0(g). We prove that, independent of P0(g), the distribution PL(g) approaches an entirely universal function P*(g) when L→∞.
