Abstract
The occurrence of cholelithiasis was observed in 4 patients with sickle cell anemia. A review of autopsy reports revealed that the incidence of ''cholelithiasis in sickle cell anemia is higher than should be expected in the general negro population. Increased formation and excretion of bilirubin may be an etiologic factor. In this respect sickle cell anemia resembles congenital hemolytic jaundice in which cholelithiasis is frequently encountered. Keywords
