Abstract

Two new compounds, cistanosides H (II) and I (III), were isolated from Cistanchis Herba, the whole plant of Cistanche salsa (C. A. Mey.) G. Beck (Orobachaceae), together with a known compound, decaffeoylacteoside (I). The structures of II and III were determined to be 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethyl O-.alpha.-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1.fwdarw.3)-2-O-acetyl-.beta.-D-glucopyranoside and O-.alpha.-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1.fwdarw.3)-(4-O-p-coumaroyl)-D-glucopyranose, respectively, on the basis of chemical and spectral data.
