Abstract
Under investigation were two methods of training Ss in the solution of problems of a specified class. The problem class under consideration was a simple discrimination where the general solution was the same for all problems but the stimulus characteristics could vary from problem to problem. It was found that a group trained on repeated presentations of the same problem was more proficient in solving a new problem of the class than a group trained on a number of different problems.
