Mid-Tropospheric Frontogenesis in an Amplifying Baroclinic Wave

Abstract
An analysis of the thermal properties of the analytic solution obtained previously by the writers is given with the aim of showing how the mid-tropospheric frontal features exhibited by the solution come into being. It is shown that second-order, non-geostrophic effects play a critical role in the generation and evolution of the observed asymmetric features of the meandering polar front of middle latitudes.
