Abstract
While there is growing interest in using Java forhigh-performance applications, many in the highperformancecomputing community do not believe thatJava can match the performance of traditional nativemessage passing environments. This paper discussescritical issues that must be addressed in the design ofJava based message passing systems. Efficient handlingof these issues allows Java-MPI applications to obtainperformance which rivals that of traditional native messagepassing systems. To...Keywords
