Abstract
A high frequency (89%) of annosus root disease caused by Heterobasidion annosum was found in true fir stumps cut 5 to 10 years earlier in northeastern Oregon. Neither season of harvesting nor stump size significantly affected the amount of stump decay which averaged 51%. Another root pathogen, possibly a species of Armillaria heretofore not recorded in Oregon, was often found in H. annosum-infected stumps. Additional surveys and research are recommended in true fir forests throughout western North America. West. J. Appl. For. 7(2):54-56.Keywords
