Abstract
A comprehensive analysis of spherical circular microstrip patch antennas is presented. The dielectric thickness is considered to be thin. Computation of the wall admittance is also presented. The input impedance is computed using the generalised transmission line model. The values of the input impedance and the resonance frequency are found to be comparable with that of a planar structure when the sphere radius is large. The radiation patterns are computed numerically using the method of moments. The effect of different parameters on the antenna characteristics is investigated.
