Abstract
The q-state two-dimensional ferromagnetic Potts model has a first-order transition for q>4, its spontaneous magnetisation having a jump discontinuity. The magnitude of this discontinuity is calculated exactly for the square, triangular and honeycomb lattices: it depends only on q and is the same for all three lattices. Keywords
