Abstract
Local disorders of bone growth form an important group of the orthopaedic problems that occur in foals. The recognition of the condition presented is essential so that the appropriate corrective measures may be instituted, and an accurate prognostication made. A knowledge of the applied anatomy of the growth plate is essential to the understanding of these cases. Consideration is given to epiphyseal separation and to angular deformity, from the point of view of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
