Abstract
An idea of the discreteness of the efferent control via the cortex is given by the evidence reported by Chang, Ruch and Ward, who with fixed routine of stimulation were able to delimit cortical areas controlling separately a single muscle operating at the ankle of the monkey, or even single parts of a muscle.
