Abstract
Two experiments were conducted to study the influence of osmotic pressure on boar spermatozoa motility preservation in skimmilk diluents. A third experiment was conducted to determine its influence on fertility. When meso-inositol was used to adjust osmotic pressure, highest motility ratings were obtained in diluents with freezing points between -.400[degree] and -.500[degree] C. Higher and lower levels reduced motility. When D-fructose was used, no differences in motility were observed in diluents with freezing points ranging from -.400[degree] to -.550[degree] C; however, lower levels were deleterious. Within any one osmotic pressure group, motility preservation was significantly (P<.05) better when the amount of skimmilk in the diluent was between 5% and 8%. On the basis of 48-hour storage, boar spermatozoa fertility was preserved better in diluents with freezing points of -.535[degree] C. compared with -.410[degree] or -.475[degree] C.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
