Abstract
The equilibrium shapes of rotating liquid drops are calculated in the spheroidal approximation. The solutions are prolate forms for high angular momenta such as are produced in compound nuclei resulting from heavy-ion bombardments. This is thought to account for the angular and energy distributions observed in heavy-ion-induced fission and light-particle evaporation. Keywords
