Histochemical Differentiation of the Megakaryocytes in the Embryonic Liver

Abstract
It was possible to identify the initial stages of megakaryocyte differentiation in the liver of fetal pigs, by the appearance of the periodic acid-Schiff reacting granules in the cytoplasm before these cells could be identified by morphologic criteria. The megakaryocytes arose in the peripheral mesenchyme, between groups of hepatic cells and intravascularly in the liver sinusoids.
