Abstract
Leinonen E, Venäläinen E, Mianserin blood levels in depressive elderly inpatients. Mianserin is an antidepressive drug much used in Finland. It has few of the side-effects typical to tricyclic antidepressives and is therefore used in the treatment of high-risk groups such as the elderly. Serious changes in blood counts have recently been reported in Finland in patients treated with mianserin, so this must be carefully controlled during treatment. The effectiveness and safety of treatment has clinically been shown to improve through the careful follow-up of mianserin blood levels. Keywords
