Abstract
Infrared spectral results for gaseous trifluoromethanethiol (CF3SH) in the 3–22 μ range are presented. By comparison with methyl mercaptan (CH3SH) and the isoelectronic molecule trifluoromethyl chloride (CF3Cl), the following assignment, (in cm—1 units), of the fundamentals has been made: v1 = 1136; v2 = 1179, 1167; v3 = 463; v4 = 521 (splitting not observed); v5 = 763; v6 = 342 (splitting not observed); v7 = 2618; and v9 = 540. The torsional mode v8 was not observed.Keywords
